I love the QNX software on my tablet, but I love how customizable my Bold Touch is, I’m not so sure I want my phone and tablet to be the same (iphone/ipad). As for the music service, the best way to get competetors to build apps is to take business away from them, capitalism. Amazon app store is not on the playbook, but people are still buying music from them because their isn’t an alternative available on the playbook, start taking sales from Amazon and others and they’ll rush to make an app. Android app player and PIM would be great, but not a dealbreaker for me. Blackberry origionally said they were making playbooks to be accessories to the phones, not stand alone tablets. I bought the playbook, fell back in love with BB and Have gotten rid of my Thunderbolt and went to the Bold Touch and love it! I think that was their intention!

First of all, BES/BIS need re-write to make native e-mail, PIM & BBM function with QNX. With RIM’s current situation (stock price, investor confidence & lack of innovation), I’m not even sure it’s even possible for them to take the time required to make things work. Articles like these are usually a sign they’ll rush things out again to satisfy everyone involved. Big mistake! Expectations are already too high. Leaking news of a QNX phone before they even have things worked out is a sign of stalling. I’ll be surprised if any of these products are ready even a year from now!

I think the company wants to rush a QNX phone because the market keeps saying they need something new. The problem is that if they rush it and the first QNX phone doesn’t impress, people might completely write-off the company. Early 2012 announcement at least.

Native email and PIM is “cool?” That puts it in line with the iPad 1. I would expect more from RIM.
