There are a ton of apps out there that are looking to be the go-to app for your music in the cloud. RIM has recently released the BBM Music Service which allows you to have 50 songs in the cloud for $5 per month. Recently, MyMusicCloud has announced a freemium cloud-based music service that could be a good alternative. Continue reading after the jump.
MyMusicCloud is a gree app to download and syncs your music with your PC and BlackBerry. The app features the following:
- Enables streaming and synchronization for online and offline playback.
- Cross-platform solution: any phone with any computer, media player, tablet or operating system.
- Store with over 11 million songs.
- Facebook integration.
- Access lyrics.
- Create ringtones.
MyMusicCloud gives you up to 2GB of storage for free and the ability to purchase additional storage starting at $10 annually for an additional 5 GB of storage. Users in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. can purchase and download music from the MyMusicCloud store. The store offers over 11 million songs for prices starting at $0.19. If you purchase ten songs through the TriPlay music store or “like” MyMusicCloud on Facebook, you’re entitled to 5GB of free storage for the first year.
We’ve tested the app on a 9900 and it doesn’t seem to work. It’s not obvious what the company’s BlackBerry device coverage is like because it’s not on the website and the app is only available OTA. Let us know how it works on your device.
