An HTML5-based OS is a pretty cool idea when you consider that the browser is the ultimate-cross platform app. Carbyn’s HTML5 OS comes complete with an App Store that allows anyone with an HTML5 app to deploy to the Carbyn OS store. Hit the jump for more details.
The above is an interview with Carbyn at TechCrunch Disrupt. Carbyn, which didn’t win, is one of the startups at the event that is actually looking to disrupt. The winning startup, Shaker, is easily the least disruptive startup imaginable. It’s simply a Facebook game that should have been called Nerdsville.
Anyways, back to Carbyn. The Carbyn HTML5 OS even comes with an SDK so you can get your app up and running quickly on the OS. The only thing we’re not sure about when it comes to Carbyn is how it performs offline. If your OS works inside the browser, you don’t want to end up with a brick of hardware when you get on the subway.
