Estimate: Over 500,000 PlayBooks Sold to Date

There is a lot of talk about how the PlayBook is doing in the market, especially given the rumor that production has been slowed. The thought is that slowed production means there is a backlog of unsold inventory. Measuring the number of PlayBooks sold through the download numbers of a free and popular app seems like an accurate way of predicting real sales and that’s just what Eric at Ebscer has done. Rove Mobile Admin Demonstrates Disaster Recovery Potential

We’ve written about Mobile Admin several times on BlackBerryCool and most recently they sent us over some validation for their product in terms of disaster recovery. BlackBerry Partners Fund Selects Most Innovative WebWorks Apps

The BlackBerry Partners Fund has been searching for the best WebWorks apps (web apps for BlackBerry) and the winners have been selected. The apps are competing for the most innovative BlackBerry WebWorks app for the BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry smartphones (based on the OS 6.0 or higher). Each region had a winner. BlackBerry Could Make Big Gains in Korea During Patent Disputes

There’s a lot of talk about the fight between Apple and Samsung over patents and according to an unnamed senior executive at Samsung, the company plans to file suit against Apple as soon as the iPhone 5 is released in Korea. BlackBerry has been making a pretty big push into Korea lately with the Torch and Bold products, and this fight could easily tip smartphone sales in RIM’s favor. More after the jump.
