Zo wordt BBX het nieuwe OS, dat het beste van QNX (OS op PlayBook) en RIM’s eigen OS (op BlackBerry smartphones) gaat combineren. Het vanaf het spreekwoordelijke scratch af aan opgebouwde nieuwe besturingsysteem zal BlackBerry cloud services ondersteunen en ontwikkelplatformen voor zowel HTML5 als native Java voor BlackBerry.
