The BlackBerry Partners Fund is leading a $5 million Series A investment in Toronto startup mDialog. mDialog is building an ad platform that will service OTT platforms (streaming TV and media services such as Roku) as well as smartphones and tablets. Mobiroo is a Toronto startup that has launched a gift card service for Android and BlackBerry. The gift cards allow you to buy apps through Mobiroo’s catalog and purchase apps for friends. We recently heard from Emacberry founder, Matthias, who told us that while his BlackBerry media player was decent, it lacked some crucial functionality for his listening needs. In particular, when a playlist is loaded, one would expect that the app will remember the last position in the playlist, as well as the track. The PlayBook has been getting some good pricing options in many of the major retail outlets. There has been talk of Best Buy USA offering the 16GB BlackBerry PlayBook for $299, as well as the 32GB model for $399 and the 64GB model for $499. I was recently at Costco and its prices seem much better, especially since the Canadian dollar is worth less than the American lately. More after the jump.
