The BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2 is now available for download, so you need to get it now. There’s some amazing additions to this update that we’ve been expecting, ever since we first saw a demo of the features a few months ago . You can now get your email, calendar, and contacts, all sync’d with your PlayBook. This is a big turning point for not only RIM, but for the PlayBook. If you’ve ever not picked up your PlayBook because you went to check your email on your smartphone, today will change all that. It’s going to be really interesting to see how everything changes now that RIM’s tablet has the functionality we expect of a modern tablet.

Love Birds Catapult Style Game Available for the PlayBook

According to the developer of Love Birds, “not all birds are angry!” We thought that was pretty cute. Love Birds is an Angry Birds/catapult style game where the objective is to bring to Love Birds together. The design of the game is really unique and the color scheme is definitely more relaxing.

The Jared Company has a pretty large portfolio of BlackBerry apps that help make your smartphone more powerful. The apps are mostly what we call “gap fillers” – apps that fill a feature hole in the BlackBerry OS and give the platform more power. It’s these kinds of apps that we’re really hoping have a big presence in BlackBerry 10, but it’s not clear how that’s coming along. Regardless, the BlackBerry OS 7 and below platform is here to stay for a long time and The Jared Company has plenty of free apps for you. One of those apps is Message Prevue which lets you see a preview of incoming messages (normally $2.99).

Runtastic App Updated with New User Interface and Huge Performance Improvements

Runtastic has been making the news a lot lately with its recent move into the hardware space. The company has a suite of fitness applications for BlackBerry and iOS and with the hardware business, it will become a well-rounded fitness company. Runtastic has recently updated its BlackBerry app too. The app now features a new design as well as increased accuracy in its location services. The new Runtastic app is much more user friendly and all around a solid app.
