RIM has announced the global launch of the BlackBerry Curve 9220 beginning with the India. The device is available for R. 10,990, or $215 USD.
The Entry-level device comes with R. 2,500 ($50 USD) worth of free apps for a limited time. I buy most of my apps within the first couple of months of owning a device so getting $50 in free apps right out the gate sounds great.
Smartphones are the fastest growing mobile category in India, which has over 900 million mobile subscibers. Smartphones account for 15% of global phone sales but only 6% in India, making it a prime forein market for RIM.
