New BlackBerry 7 Compatible Theme Studio Coming Soon

Here’s a tip from a member of the BlackBerry theme building community: RIM will be releasing a new version of Theme Studio sometime this early summer giving theme developers lots more options when creating BlackBerry 7 themes.

Until then some of the more industrious theme designers are still churning out BlackBerry 7-compatible themes by reverse engineering the stock BlackBerry 7 theme. I’m told it takes a lot more time than having the official theme suite doing the legwork for you, but the results are just as stylish and fuctional.

Check out the HDV theme by HedoneDesign for instance, this iOS replica theme will style your BlackBerry 7 device as if it were iOS-compatible. This theme is optimized for BlackBerry 7 and promises not to drain your battery any faster than the stock theme.

    Interesting. I think legacy BlackBerrys will be around for at least another 4 years, so it’s still a good business to make themes.

    +1 totally agree my friend! It seems the strategy RIM is using is to push all OS7 devices on to emerging markets and concentrate the High-End BB10 phones for the US, Canada and England. I think its a great strategy on their part and should provide them with a good platform for a comeback (of course its dependent on BB10 having a successful launch  :-) I believe that the stars may just be aligning for RIM (and I’ll cross my fingers and say a prayer anyway just for good measure!)! Cheers!
