RIM may or may not be sponsoring NxNE but they’ll be sponsors of the AT&T Mobile App Hackathon. The event is produced by the AT&T Developer Program and Apigee and it’s designed for attendees (technical and non-technical), to build apps and compete for prizes. The hackathon is open to any platform or programming language. If your coding skills are a little rusty, there will be live developer support from local senior developers as well as from AT&T, Sencha, and Apigee to help you code faster and more effectively.
In terms of RIM’s sponsorship, we encourage you to talk to your local BlackBerry Developer Groups and BlackBerry envangelists. They’ll be able to provide you with more details. Generally, it consists of covering some costs for the developer and topping up the winnings if the chosen developers win.
You apps will be judged based on the following criteria:
33% Weight – Ability to clearly articulate what your app does.
33% Weight – Originality of idea.
33% Weight – Use of Node.JS, Sencha, cloud9ide.com, Heroku, and other technologies.
The AT&T Hackathon will take place on June 15th and 16th at the MaRS Discovery District.
