RIM has announced the hiring of two new members of their executive team. The new COO Kristian Tear joins RIM from Sony Mobile Communications and the new CMO Frank Boulben who has held positions in both Vodafone and Orange.
RIM has shuffled nearly every senior position in the company since they parted ways with their then Chief Marketing Officer Keith Pardy in March 2011. The new executives bring lots of mobile experience to the RIM staff. Frank Boulen has directed sales and marketing with European carriers Vodafone and Orange. Kristian Tear is a veteran mobile marketer with experience marketing for Ericsson, and more recently Sony Mobile Communications.
It looks like RIM has nearly a whole new team to work on the company’s transition into their next generation mobile platform: BlackBerry 10. Working without a Chief Marketing Officer for an entire year has it’s down side with media declaring every marketing campaign a failure.
I’m glad to see some new blood within the RIM ranks, I’m hoping it will lead to a successful transition into the future of RIM: BlackBerry 10.
