RIM Partners with GEMA and Announces Upgrades to Their Enterprise Product Lineup

RIM has announced their partnership with the GEMA or the Global Enterprise Mobile Alliance to deliver globally managed mobile solutions. Able to handle diverse deployments including tablets, Android and iOS devices, GEMA will be able to use their expertise to handle complex multinational mobile deployments.

RIM has announced major updates to both BlackBerry Mobile Fusion and BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Mobile Fusion Service Pack 1 will be bringing lots more options for managing the BlackBerry Playbook as well as iOS phones and tablets. These options include greater Microsoft Exchange compatibility, WiFi configuration, OTA enrolment, VPN and activesync. The service pack upgrade brings Mobile Fusion to and additional 37 countries bringing the total supported nations up to 81.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server get an upgrade with BES Service Pack 4 and BESX gets updated to version 5. The BESX update adds Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino support. This BES update is said to be a stepping stone to BlackBerry 10 support.
