Hit iOS Game BADLAND Coming to BlackBerry 10

BADLAND is a really awesome game for iOS that combines elements of the indie game Limbo with side-scrolling, platform action. It’s easy to play and visually really impressive. The developers have announced that the game will be coming to BlackBerry 10 and it looks like they’re close to launch as the demo video is up and the game seems very polished. There’s no official release date set but surely it will be before US Thanksgiving.

Amazon Offers Developers a New Way to Monetize Apps

If you’re a developer and you’ve got an app on Amazon or Google Play, you can now monetize your app using an Amazon affiliate program. The new Amazon Mobile Associates API will let you advertise physical and digital products in your apps and games and earn up to 6% commission. This is an awesome feature for any content-heavy apps and it should be interesting to see how developers pair physical products with mobile apps.

YOUi Labs Creates iOS App and Ports to BlackBerry 10 Same Day and Same Code

YOUi Labs is a company that specializes in user interface design and the company has recently put together a demo of an app that they built for iOS and ported over to BlackBerry 10 in a single day, with the same code base. The UI Engine is a cool little demo that shows off some unique swipe motions and it would be cool to see in other apps.

TacoQuest is DinDin Kitchen Inc’s Foray Into A Micro-Search Platform

Three BlackBerry employees: Alex Kinsella, Derek Alldritt and Chad Tetreault have launched an app called TacoQuest and a startup called DinDin Kitchen. According to LinkedIn, DinDin Kitchen “specializes in brining innovative apps to mobile platforms.” The first app, TacoQuest, is an interesting concept that, powered by foursquare, aims to be a “micro-search platform”.

The Top 5 Vendors on iOS By Number of Apps Submitted to the App Store

Recently, there has been a lot of talk about how one BlackBerry World vendor, S4BB, has submitted 47,000+ apps to store and that it doesn’t bode well for BlackBerry’s view that it was about “quality, not quantity”. We decided to do some investigating with the help of the guys at Pretzil.com, to find out exactly how many apps the top 5 vendors, by number of apps, have submitted. Nobody comes close with the most number of apps submitted by a single vendor being 2,168.

Pocket Ninjas Now Available for BlackBerry Q10 and Q5

Pocket Ninjas is a fun game by Cocky Culture, the same people known for their BlackBerry themes some years ago (and technically still today). The game is sort of like Fruit Ninja, except you’re a ninja that’s slicing and dicing other ninjas in a pretty guesome blood bath. Pocket Ninjas now includes Q10 and Q5 support, along with PlayBook and Z10 support.
