BlackBerry Torch 9850/9860 Review: The Full Touchscreen Torch

After I first heard that RIM was making another attempt at a full touchscreen device I got excited but then remembered that Blackberry fans felt let down with the launch with the storm, then the storm 2. Those devices definitely left a sour taste in my mouth when it comes to RIM making a full touchscreen device. However, I believe the success of the Torch 9800 played a big part in the making of the Torch 9850/9860. RIM saw that there was a market for touch screen BlackBerrys and decided to go ahead with the full touchscreen Torch. I would say that the most impressive features of this device are Liquid Graphics and the powerful 1.2GHz processor. Read on to get the full scoop on RIM’s first successful full touch screen device.

Costco Selling the 16GB BlackBerry PlayBook for $274.99

Comments

The PlayBook has been getting some good pricing options in many of the major retail outlets. There has been talk of Best Buy USA offering the 16GB BlackBerry PlayBook for $299, as well as the 32GB model for $399 and the 64GB model for $499. I was recently at Costco and its prices seem much better, especially since the Canadian dollar is worth less than the American lately. More after the jump.

facebook version 2

Facebook for BlackBerry has gone version 2.0 and there are a lot of users are dying to get their hands on this update. For some reason the Blackberry platform seems to be one of the last to get any major update to the most popular apps and Facebook for BlackBerry is no exception. Without reservation I must say that finally RIM is giving their Facebook app some love with a totally overhauled Facebook 2.0 social media application.

What does this mean for Facebook for Blackberry users? There are great new features built into this application including a brand new look with a completely overhauled User Interface that looks pretty much like the Facebook App for the iPhone with icons placed in a smokey gray backgroud.

BlackBerry 6 Response Times on the Bold 9700 vs the Torch 9800

Comments

Have you loaded BlackBerry 6 on your Bold 9700? Even the leaked version that hit the Internet recently is more responsive than the Torch 9800. I’ve loaded the latest version of BlackBerry 6 on each device and even though the Torch 9800 has more icons on the screen, the Bold 9700 is definitely more responsive. Hopefully the Torch will get faster with a few more updates because the lag time on the device is a little frustrating. Other than that, the Torch is arguably the best BlackBerry to date.
