RIM developing Flash support

Comments

Even though our boy Jibi is out of town this week, he’s still holding it down for the BlackBerry faithful. First he breaks news on the new Pearl family RIM wants us to welcome into our homes, and now he’s letting us know that RIM is working on Flash support. Here’s what Jibi had to say:

In the httpcontenttranscoderslist.xml file, found in the MDS 4.1.2 simulator’s config directory, I happened upon some code that has been commented out. This code leads me to believe that Flash support is in development by RIM. When that’ll happen has to be anyone’s guess, but this could potentially be quite huge, especially with the ever-increasing loss of interest in the SVG format.

Virtual BlackBerry for Windows Mobile

BlackBerry OS on Windows Mobile?

As we learned a few weeks ago, Research In Motion plans to release a
virtual BlackBerry OS for Windows Mobile devices. Well, with the release of BlackBerry Desktop Media Manager 4.2 SP2, it would appear that we have a bit more confirmation that this project is becoming a reality, if not already most of the way there.

Jibi Jabber: Best of WES 2007

Comments

Jibi Jabber

While we’ll have our own up soon, BlackBerry Forums stud Jibi has emailed us his thoughts about the best thing he saw at WES. Unsurprisingly, Jibi shows his IT Admin true colors and raps about BES 5.0. Check it out, but by no means believe anything he says.

SureType vs QWERTY - Which is faster?

To start, I want to disclose that my personal tests should be considered biased, for obvious reasons, and that they will likely vary from your own results. I have no science behind my opinions, aside from what’s best for me. I’d like to hear some feedback from our readers here at BlackBerry Cool on their personal preferences, as well.

I used a BlackBerry Pearl since last October through mid-March, at which time I upgraded to an 8800 model. Prior to the Pearl, I used an 8700 for approximately six months. Prior to the 8700, I used a 7100t since it’s launch on T-Mobile in September 2004. I have a nice history of going back and forth between the SureType and Full QWERTY devices, so please don’t think I’m being too biased one way or the other when I say that I find my best experience, to date, with typing on a BlackBerry comes with the Pearl not the 8800, or even the 8700.

Jibi-Jabber: RIM’s Related Costs and Changes Needed

Comments

First of all, let me apologize for the lack of an article this past Monday. My birthday was on the 8th and since we all know how birthday’s go, well, that should be reason enough. So after a week of polishing the ol’ brain, it’s time for another episode of Jibi-Jabber.

With the imminent release of the BlackBerry 8800, it would seem this next week will be one of the most anticipated in Research In Motion’s history. On the cusp of something special looming just around the corner, I’m sure shareholders could not be more giddy at this point. Record stock earnings should follow closely behind this week’s release. Oh, to be part of Waterloo these days, right?
