Bla1ze from crackberry reports on the recently availability of the Rogers Bold 9700. The new device has “became available today for retailers to order through hardware management”. Rogers has been quietly shipping dummy devices to their retail channels, with the devices now available in the inventory to certain CSRs, how much longer before the retail Rogers Bold 9700 launch? Also available are the White Bold 9000, as well as a cameraless Bold 9000.

EA Mobile has launched some of their best selling titles on App World recently including Bejeweled, Need for Speed Undercover, Risk, Scrabble (in the US and Canada only), Tetris, Tetris Mania, The Sims 3, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour.
If you’re thinking of buying any of these games, here is a quick review of some of the titles that I have played:
Bejeweled – Excellent casual game and easy to play on a BlackBerry. Definitely worth it! Tetris – The original and a great purchase for a mobile game. The Sims 3 – Not worth purchasing. The mobile version lacks any real Sims gameplay and is a cheap ripoff of the PC version.
In the past couple of years we’ve seen BlackBerry go from a business-oriented uber pager, into the swiss-army knife of smartphone entertainment and productivity it is today. With so many high-end devices on the street, my Bold is no longer as special as it was when it first launched late last year. Time for a change that will elevate my device ten floors above the pedestrian and into the penthouse.
The Bold was the first BlackBerry that could be easily customized with interchangeable battery covers. On launch they had red and blue faux leather, now there are dozens of battery covers available from gold snakeskin to pink denim. We got our custom kits from Cellular Nationwide Network: an OEM parts distributor with a thorough selection of BlackBerry custom parts and quick shipping.
For these custom devices we wanted to switch the silver bezel and buttons out for a matte black set, I also wanted to switch carrier tags to add some international flavor. Ordering a battery back is simple enough but for these other modifications we’re going to have to so some disassembling and warranty voiding. Taking the device apart was simple enough, putting it back together is a little tough so here’s a disassembly guide just in case.
I would like to note how light the BlackBerry Bold’s guts are without the battery and external housing. To me the bold is a computer in every sense, but taken apart it weighs about as much as an Oreo.
Black denim battery cover, black scroll ball, matte black bezel with blank carrier bottom panel, and a set of black buttons.

Vringo is a video ringtone service for your mobile device that includes a social component so you can share your favorite videos with friends. Their application is being developed for the BlackBerry Bold, and they’re looking for early adopters to try out their fully functional social and visual ringtone application.
The service provides a large catalog of free video ringtones and it also lets you turn your own videos into a video rintone format.
A new games popped up in the BlackBerry Cool store that looks hilarious. The game is called Postal Babes and it’s a 2D sidescroller featuring girls with guns in their underwear.
The plot of the game reads like a B movie. Maniacs have taken over campus and now the first year student girls are hostages. Tragedy! The Postal Babes will save the day!
This game features 12 levels and a ton of weapon variations. Happy gaming!
I found this great article in the forums that shouldn’t go unnoticed. It’s a little old but hopefully someone out there gets some use from it. The how to will allow you to download the free apps from BlackBerry App World, even though RIM hasn’t officially launched in your country.

Pixelated is an interesting puzzle game that requires changing pixel colors until your screen is single solid color. To do this, you use a combination of colored buttons on the bottom of the screen to change the color of the squares in the upper left hand corner.
It’s a little difficult to explain but it’s a simple game to play. There are 2 versions of the game: Pixelated and Pixelated Plus. While Pixelated lacks some of the advanced features found in Pixelated Plus, such as stat tracking and additional playing modes, Pixelated is still a fully functioning game with no limits on it’s game play.
