Our good pal over at the forums, Stinsonddog, is well known for his BlackBerry-related tips & tricks. A while back we took a gander at some cases from Proporta and thrust our thumbs down so hard they went white(r) from blood loss. Thankfully, Stinsonddog’s got some great tips when it comes to picking out a case for your BlackBerry. Check them out after the jump.

Considering BlackBerry cases
We’ve got a bunch of BlackBerry 8700’s floating around the office, and I wanted to set mine apart from the rest. The BBCool team has put together a brief how-to video on applying a skin to your device to make you the coolest guy in the office moderately geeky. I’m not going to lie - it was a bit of a frustrating process (you can see me applying, removing, and re-applying the skin a few times), but the end result is pretty rad with the great wood skin supplied by SkinIt.ca. Check them out for all your skinning needs. Check out the video after the jump.
While Gmail’s currently getting the thumbs down (and putting them up somewhere else…), there is some love that can still be tossed Google’s way. Thanks to Hayden over at Pinstack, we’re able to get a look at some neat little tricks your device can tackle while surfing Google.
These hints are time and life savers, let me tell you. Perform tasks like looking up definition, get flight status, and even receive weather reports all with a few simple keystrokes. Check out the tips after the jump.
Consider this the fine print. Russ points us to this little tidbit - thank you, sir. For Canadian residents, there’s a warehouse sale going down at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. GetConnected.ca, on select dates and times (find those after the jump), will have the Pearl for a mere $99 after you agree to a three-year plan with Rogers. You’ve got to be one of the first 50 activations through the door to receive a free Bluetooth headset, though, so grow your nails to gouge some eyes and slap on those old soccer cleats - that Pearl is yours.
At home, I’m a Mac guy. At work, I’m PC (but wish I were Mac). I’ve noticed that Mac users get the short end of the stick in the BlackBerry world, and I’m mad as heck and am not gonna take it anymore (alright, I’m only slightly miffed). Shayne over at BlackBerryThemeCentral understands and appreciates where I’m coming from, and decided to ease the pain with a new Mac-based theme. “Mac Attack” is available for the 8700 series. Check out some previews.

Our creative and hard-working pal Shayne at BlackBerryThemeCentral.com likes to keep us on top of his ongoing’s (and we thank him profusely for it). One of his most recent updates is the addition of Windows-based theme. Now, I’m sure the majority of you are PC users, but I’m still anxiously waiting on an old Apple-OS theme - that’d be cool. Speaking of cool, did I mention that Shayne’s got some BlackBerryCool themes available, too? Both those and the Windows theme are available for 7200/7100/8700 devices. See a preview of the Windows theme after the jump. Thanks, Shayne.

It’s true, apparently. Thanks to BlackBerryInsight, we’ve got some news. The (beta) BBCalls is a free program that allows you to make free calls, all the while using the JaJah service. Now you can be just like our pals Alice and Bob up there - exciting. Even with the sketchy graphics and such on their website, the service appears to be legit.

If you constantly find yourself CC-ing the same group of people you may want to form an email group to make composing and sending emails faster. Just like the name applies, you associate several emails together to form a group address. A good use for group emails are situations like a new development team or department.
To form a group address do the following:
1. Go into Address Book.
2. Wheel click and New Group.
3. Enter the name of your new group address.
4. Add people to your group and Save.

BlackBerry devices running OS 4.1 or later can integrate and transfer the address book on the Blackberry directly to 2006 Audi and BMW models equipped with Bluetooth car kits. Instructions for pairing and transferring your address book are below:
1. Configure Address Book transfer options by going to Options –> Bluetooth.
2. Click the trackwheel and select Options.
3. In the Address Book Transfer field, click the trackwheel and select Change Option.
4. Click one of the following options:
* Disabled - disable the feature
* All Entries - transfer all Address Book entries
* Hotlist Only - transfer only the entries that you have had contact with recently over the phone
Note: An entire Address Book might not fit in some car kits.
5. Click the trackwheel and select Save.
6. After your Blackberry is configure, you then need to put the Bluetooth car kit in Attention or Seek mode.

In a demonstration of the “push” capabilities of the Blackberry technology, RIM has released a push weather information service. You can register for the service to get weather information pushed directly to your handheld either once or twice a day. This service is not new, it’s atleast a year old but use to only function on a limited amount of carriers but it now seems available on most carriers and handhelds running OS 4.0+.
What we’re hoping for are additional push services like sports results and possibly stock information.
To sign up to get weather pushed to your handheld, just visit the following website on your Blackberry:
