BlackBerry CurveThree major carriers have released the BlackBerry Curve 8330 or are gearing up to do so shortly, in addition to those that have had them out for a while. As promised, Alltell is now offering the badboy in their online store for $299 after online discount and mail-in rebate. Sprint ads for it are appearing in American newspapers, offering a red or titanium Curve with a price of $179 after rebate, and with a two contract. Finally, Verizon’s will be available online and over the phone on May 9th, and over other channels on the 12th. It’s reported to be going for $270 after a $50 rebate and a 2 year contract.

The GPS-equipped 8110 is available in red and titanium, and comes with a $149.99 price tag after a $50 mail-in rebate. WES Exhibitor Spotlight: PaperIQ

Comment

PaperIQ logoWES draws ever closer, but there are still plenty of companies left in the lineup; next up is PaperIQ. They offer an incredibly neat digital pen solution in both professional and enterprise editions. In either case, the software allows you to use an electronic pen and an electronic notepad to jot down notes in your own handwriting, and have it sent to your BlackBerry via Bluetooth as a memo or email. You can even use a feature called Smart Margins to indicate notes that should be converted into a task or contact. The enterprise edition allows businesses to push forms out to their users and have them fill it using the electronic pen and paper. They’ve also announced that they’ll be showing off new products and new BlackBerry functionality at WES in booth #646, which is definitely something to look forward to.

Comments

Alltel 8330While Sprint’s release date for the BlackBerry 8330 is still in flux, Alltel has gone all official, announcing a May 1st. release date. It’s available for pre-order now on Alltel’s online store for $229.99 after a $100.00 mail-in rebate and a two-year plan.

Bell and Telus up north have already unleashed their devices, but it’s safe to say that most of the big names in the US will have the CDMA Curve ready to rock before WES.

Sprint’s 8330 still on schedule

Comments

Sprint’s BlackBerry Curve 8330 is still on track for an April release, as per their original announcement, despite rumors flying around that suggested it had been pushed back to June 1st. There were some earlier rumors for a release on April 16th, which they’ve definitely missed, but Engadget checked with Sprint and they confirmed that the 8330 would be coming out some time “this month.” There isn’t a whole lot of April left, so keep your eyes peeled.

WES Exhibitor Spotlight: Garmin

Comments

Garmin offers a variety of GPS-based hardware, for everything from your daily drive to deep sea fishing to flying. Frankly, they probably have a GPS solution available if you happen to find yourself walking the surface of Mars. They also have a software division, which can include a GPS dongle if your BlackBerry doesn’t come with GPS. Of course, GPS is being included across all kinds of phones more and more often, so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to think we might see some of their hardware converted to a software version that will run on other devices. Regardless, they should have some cool demos at WES.

T-Mobile releases 8120

Comment

A celebrating PearlHey, they actually did it. After being pushed back almost two months, the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 is now available through T-Mobile’s store. The phone’s equipped with Wi-Fi, a 2 megapixel camera and Bluetooth, as per usual. As with T-Mobile’s 8820, you’ll be able to use Hotspot @Home to make calls over your local Wi-Fi network. So far, it seems like it’s only available in a rather boring grey, so hopefully we’ll see some new colors come out soon. The 8820 got the color treatment, and a rare one at that, so fingers crossed… Failing that, you can always grab a skin and do the coloring yourself.

Bell Curve released

Comments

Bell CurveNot one to be left behind, Bell Canada is now offering the silver BlackBerry 8330 for $249.95 with a three-year hook in the cheek. Navigation and music services are both available, taking advantage of the built-in GPS and EV-DO capabilities. Software-wise, you can get this sucker loaded with Windows Live Messenger and Facebook.

Telus outs CDMA Curve

Comments

Telus CurveAs predicted, the Telus Blackberry 8330 is out today, available to Canadians for $249.99 on a 3-year contract. (Man, now I wish that earlier pricetag had panned out.) This little sucker comes preloaded with the Facebook app and Pocket Express, and will be cruising the EVDO airwaves for snappy data transfer. It’s cool that we got it first up here in the Great North, and I’ll be sure to swing by the Telus store to take a look.
