Like their Rogers counterparts, O2 is offering the Pearl Flip for peanuts, and even free depending upon your contract. Rogers BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220

Rogers officially announced the release of the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 for tomorrow, along with some pricing information. However, as regular readers of BlackBerry Cool, you already knew both these facts on Friday. Regardless, here’s the official word for you:

The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 smartphone will be available in black from Rogers starting November 4, from $49.99 with activation on any combination of 3 year voice and data plan with minimum combined monthly service fee of $35 per month from Rogers. Some conditions apply. The pink BlackBerry Pearl Flip will be available in the coming weeks.

Vlingo 2.0 launches today

Vlingo 2.0

Following up quickly on their open beta last week, the fine folks at Vlingo have officially announced the release of Vlingo 2.0. Vlingo is a free and popular voice-powered application allowing users to take control of their BlackBerry without adding strain to their precious thumbs.

“We launched vlingo 1.0 for BlackBerry smartphones in June, and consumer adoption has exceeded our aggressive benchmarks,” said Dave Grannan, CEO of vlingo. “Our users have spoken more than three million times to our application, including over one million times to compose text messages with the power of their voices. This is validation of our unique approach to voice recognition, which hinges on making mobile data and applications easier to find and use. It provides clear evidence of the growing need to simplify the mobile phone user experience.”

Big news breaking from the always exciting crew over at the BlackBerry Partners Fund!

Following up a busy week where they announced the winners of the BBDC BlackBerry Developer Challenge (Poynt, Strands and BlackBerry Cool 15 winner Nobex) and made two on-the-spot offers to BlackBerry Cool 15 presenters Smrtguard and BeamBerry, the Partners Fund has announced investment in three more BlackBerry developers: buzzd, Digby, and WorldMate. Here’s a quick rundown of each developer and the investment amount:

    buzzd, a location-sensitive city guide and social network for mobile devices, has raised $3.2 million in a Series A Preferred Stock financing with BlackBerry Partners Fund, Greycroft Partners, Monitor Ventures and Qualcomm Ventures.

    Digby, a leading mobile commerce service provider, has raised $5.5 million Series B Preferred Stock with the BlackBerry Partners Fund and existing shareholders.

    WorldMate, a company that has paved the way for mobile travel innovation and serves over one million frequent flyers and road warriors around the world, has raised $8 million in a Series C Preferred Stock financing with BlackBerry Partners Fund, Motorola Ventures and AMC Communications.
