With the launch of the BlackBerry Torch from AT&T, consumers finally have their hands on BlackBerry 6 and we thought now a good time to publish an in-depth look at the new OS. If you’re a long time BlackBerry user, this OS will be very intuitive. BlackBerry 6 isn’t an entirely new experience, but rather a greatly improved experience over OS 5 with some new bells and whistles. Just like the Torch motto, BlackBerry 6 is “Less an evolutionary leap, more like a triple axel.”
The new BlackBerry 6 has several new features that make the BlackBerry experience faster, more streamlined and generally more fun. These new features can be grouped into the following categories:
AT&T has announced the U-verse Mobile app that allows customers to record and watch TV shows using a WiFi connection for the BlackBerry Torch. The U-verse app is available at no extra cost to all U-verse TV customers, and the ability to download and watch content is available to customers that subscribe to the U300 package or higher.
The Torch features a large screen that is ideal for watching video and this app could be great for catching up on some good shows on the go.
The BlackBerry Torch 9800 has launched today and RIM and AT&T are hosting a webcast for developers to learn about developing for the BlackBerry Torch and 6.
Date: August 12, 2010 Event Start Time: 1:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (10:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time) Duration: 1 hour

AG Findings has let us know that they have four new protective accessories for the BlackBerry Torch called the Glide Rail Technology (GRT) Shell, Premium Leather Pouch, Endo GRT and Endo GRT with holster.
The Glide Rail Technology (GRT) Shell costs $34.99 and is built such that your device is protected but can slide in and out as it was designed to do. The rails use something they call Glide-Tech Resin to ensure smooth operation and prevent scratching when inserting and removing the shell. The GRT Shell also allows complete access to all ports and controls, and includes two interchangeable fronts: Smoked Chrome and Metallic Blue. Here is a video recap of the AT&T BlackBerry Torch press event in New York. There were a lot of major news outlets there for their smartphone sound byte. Almost every East Coast tech blogger that I had ever seen at a BlackBerry event were in attendance. The clickity-clack of 50 Macintosh-armed bloggers hummed through the tight set list of speakers who spoke with pride about what their teams had envisioned and accomplished in order to make this happen.
The tech demo booths where full of (physically) tethered BlackBerry Torch devices for people to try. In the displays there was a very limited selection of accessory and hardened case offerings. The devices were filled with a bare bones amount of fake information so you could see some notifications and calendar events. All the 1st party software was loaded along with an uninspired media collection. People swiped around the new BlackBerry 6 UI while chatting about the new stuff, mostly the surprisingly enjoyable mobile web browsing.
