Peak: A Native BaseCamp by 37Signals App Now Available

BaseCamp is a great tool by 37Signals that lets small businesses and startups coordinate and get the team moving more efficiently. The last BaseCamp app we wrote about was the Kompass for BaseCamp app that is a web-based tool for managing your BaseCamp account. The app is cool and the decision to use the web makes sense when you look at how many small businesses have a lot of device fragmentation, but a native app was still needed. Native apps just run smoother and are accessible offline.

Kompass for Basecamp Closes Beta and Goes Premium

We’ve been following Kompass for Basecamp for some time now because Basecamp is a popular tool for small business to stay organized and manage projects, and Kompass has provided a solid mobile component. The app uses a web interface rather than a mobile app because small companies tend to have more fragmentation than large companies and the web is a common thread.

Beta Review: Kompass for Basecamp Mobile Site

Kompass for BlackBerry is a mobile site that is optimized for smartphones including BlackBerry. The fact that it’s a mobile site offers some advantages and disadvantages, and this review aims to highlight each aspect of this choice. Basecamp is a project management platform used by many businesses, and considering the number of SMBs on BlackBerry, it’s surprising a native app hasn’t yet been developed. Let’s take a look at the Beta version of Kompass for BlackBerry, after the break.

Kompass for Basecamp Now Accepting Beta Testers

Basecamp is an incredibly effective and popular, web-based project management tool. Collaboration app for BlackBerry now accepting beta testers

Bryte Software are working on an application that I’m personally really excited about. They have begun the internal alpha testing on a new Basecamp portal specifically designed to work with Blackberry platform called “Kompass.” Kompass is the first Basecamp portal made to work on BlackBerry.

Just in case you’re not familiar with Basecamp, it is the world’s leading web-based project management application. They currently have over 3,000,000 users. However, to date, only one BlackBerry application has ever been created for mobile access to Basecamp and it is no longer receiving ample support. This has left many BlackBerry users (including myself) in the dark while iPhone developers create a multitude of apps. I even know of certain individuals switching to the iPhone or buying an iPod Touch specifically for the Basecamp applications.

Bryte Software and Kompass are beginning to accept applications for private beta testers at kompasshq.com.

Be sure to mention you heard about it first on BlackBerryCool.com!
