Questions Answered About BBX, PlayBook 4G and Native PIM Applications

Not too long ago we posted some screenshots of the native PIM applications on PlayBook and there was an incredible response. Many people wanted to know more about these apps and the infrastructure behind it. We’ve compiled a list of questions and answers that should shed some more light on these PIM apps, how they integrate with RIM’s infrastructure as well as some upcoming features of PlayBook OS 2.0. There’s also some interesting notes on the PlayBook 4G release and more. Needless to say, we’re very excited for this to finally launch.

Mobihand Under Financial Strain and Looking For Acquisition

Last week we wrote about Mobihand not paying a developer that was owed over $100K because it was having cashflow issues. Now, Mobihand has publicly admitted that it is under “significant financial strain” and it’s looking at selling the company. What’s odd, is that accounting for a middleman style company should be pretty straight-forward. If you owe a developer $100K, you should have that money guaranteed because it’s backed by the consumers that bought the app.

Alec Saunders Confirms Many Upcoming BBX Features

We are very excited about BBX. Everything RIM has said about the platform makes a lot of sense and the rumors we’re hearing about the first QNX device sound exciting. The only downside is that all the rumors point to a full touchscreen device, and we’ve never been happy with a full touchscreen BlackBerry. We need our keyboard. Regardless, a recent interview with Alec Saunders confirms some cool upcoming features of BBX, and we’re even more excited about the first devices to launch.
