Untappd is an awesome app that combines a social network, beer guide and venue checkins. In short, the app lets you tell your friends what beers you’re drinking and where. The location element allows you to discover venues that offer the best beers and the beer guide is constantly expanding as it’s crowdsourced. The good people at Untappd have officially announced that a native BlackBerry 10 Untappd app is now available and come January 30th, you’ll be able to use it on your new BlackBerry 10 device, along with features that are exclusive to the platform. Just in time for the weekend is an app for BlackBerry Playbook by Chris Maxwell called Watch My BAC. I’m not sure if you’ve ever calculated you and your friends’ BAC while drinking but it basically turns the whole thing into a really fun game.

Victoria Day statutory holiday in Canada

The Canadian government insists that BlackBerry Cool shut down for a day in order to build our content and relax the creative nodes in our brains.

Victoria Day is a Canadian statutory holiday celebrated on the Monday preceding May 24. It honors Queen Victoria’s birthday.

Since the British have been run out of town, Victoria Day is also commonly called the May 2-4 weekend and it marks the unofficial start of the cottage season where 2-4 cases of beer are consumed by hard working Canadians.
