OS 4.5 available from Orange UK

Comments

OrangeThe latest BlackBerry operating system has been making the rounds by way of private beta builds for awhile now, but it looks like a few carriers are starting to make them publicly available, including Orange UK for the BlackBerry 8120 and BlackBerry 8320, as well as TIM Italy for the 8100, 8300 and 8310. Odds are these will work hunky-dory for your own device, so feel free to give ‘em a shot and get on fresh goodies like HTML e-mail viewing (if your BIS supports it), remote e-mail lookup, native document viewing, and plenty more.

BlackBerry 8320 headed to AT&T?

Comment

BlackBerry CurveIt looks like Rogers isn’t the only carrier to start packing soon-to-be-antiquated devices… word has it AT&T will be putting up the BlackBerry 8320 alongside the BlackBerry Bold by the end of Q3. Why would anyone take a second look at the Wi-Fi Curve, when you could have a Wi-Fi/GPS/3G BlackBerry right beside it? Either all of the other BlackBerrys will have their prices knocked down to be an affordable alternative, or the BlackBerry 9000 will be so ridonkulously expensive that they’ll seem cheaper by comparison. Still, options are options, and the Bold might just be overkill for some users. The BlackBerry 8320 is certainly a more reasonable choice for enterprises making a widespread UMA rollout…

Digicel launches BlackBerry 8320 in Bermuda

Comments

Bermuda It was nearly a year ago that the Curve first hit Bermudan shores, but now the Wi-Fi version from Digicel has lapped up on the tropical surf. Bermuda keeps a close eye on devices coming onto the island, one would presume to protect such a small and isolated market. It’s good to see that hasn’t stopped the new devices from coming in, even though it’s a little late to the party. I wonder how long it’ll take for Digicel to get the BlackBerry Bold out there…

Scanbuy announces BlackBerry compatability

Comments

ScanbuyScanbuy has announced that their 2D barcode scanning app for cameraphones is now available for BlackBerry. Using their software, you can now take pictures of particular barcodes similar to those being worked into airports with your Pearl or Curve to access related content like music, pictures and information. They’ve already got a bunch of partners doing some pretty interesting things with the technology, such as the Paris Metro which delivers point of interest and transit information using the barcodes, and Codilink who’s using it to deliver and redeem coupons. There are a lot of great opportunities for this kind of stuff, that’s for sure.

BlackBerry 8320 lands in Romania

Comments

RomaniaThe Wi-Fi Curve was announced today by Orange in Romania. To kick off the event, they’re throwing in 1 GB microSD cards with the handset. Orange’s BlackBerry lineup in Romania was starting to look a little stale, so the 8320 should liven things up a fair bit. No price available yet, but you can expect something in the range of 200€ with a two-year contract.

Thailand gets Wi-Fi Curve

Comments

TrueMoveJust after Singapore’s BlackBerry 8320 release, RIM issues an announcement of the same device just around the proverbial block. Thai carrier True Move is now packing the Wi-Fi Curve, but no word on price from their online catalogue. It’s safe to assume the device will be making more rounds in the neighbourhood soon.

BlackBerry 8320 lands in Singapore

Comments

M1Although unheralded by press release nor fanfare, the Wi-Fi Curve has made its way to The East through M1 for around S$450 (or US$312). Still no sign of the 8120 on Singtel, Starhub, or M1 but the 8320 is a decent trade-off, no? Besides, M1 has a pretty decent lineup with the 8310, 8820 and 8707 up there, too. Interestingly, the new Curve doesn’t have the big “BlackBerry from Vodafone” label (reminiscent of VIP’s deal) slapped underneath it. Maybe M1’s managing to handle it themselves…? Thanks Ross!

BlackBerry 8320 deal on Amazon

Comment

T-Mobile 8320Missed out on all the Black Friday fun? Luckily, T-Mobile’s got a deal on Amazon where you can pick up the Wi-Fi Curve for dirt cheap. As is the usual case with these Amazon sales, you’ve got a nice $250 rebate on the line if you miss a payment, change plans, or switch carriers altogether, but if you think you can handle that, and you pick up a $39.99 service plan, the BlackBerry 8320 is yours for free. Even with a cheaper plan, you can pick it up, complete with MyFaves, Wi-Fi, 2 megapixel video camera, and a full QWERTY keypad, for a scant $99.99.
