RIM has announced the Bold 9900 and the 9930 here at BlackBerry World 2011 and they’re going to be killer devices. Combining a touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard, and being the thinnest devices yet, these BlackBerrys are a great new addition to the team (we’ll know for sure post-review).

In terms of impressive specs, the Bolds are built on a new performance-driven platform featuring a 1.2 GHz processor, Liquid Graphics touch screen, and support for high speed 4G/HSPA+ wide area wireless networks. These smartphones also feature NFC, APIs for augmented reality and 720p HD video recording and playback. Expect these devices to launch early this summer.

White BlackBerry Bold goes to Korea with SK Telecom

The white BlackBerry Bold 9000, which was one of the few BlackBerry related pieces of news we saw from CTIA, will be showing up for sale in Korea via SK Telecom.

The device will be available at the end of October and the first 1,000 customers will get a free BlackBerry Horizontal Leather Pouch.

It will be interesting to see how well the Bold sells in South Korea as it’s a country with a very predefined mobile culture. Many of the devices come with TV receivers and the Korean language is almost better suited to a keypad. That being said, there are a great number of ex-pats and Korean businessmen who would love this device.

Possible specs for BlackBerry Bold 9900 aka Pluto and Magnum 9220

Every now and then we come across a spec sheet put together by a fairly unknown source. Today, we’re seeing the possible specs for the BlackBerry Pluto and the BlackBerry Magnum.

The BlackBerry Pluto hasn’t shown it’s face in the blogosphere yet but there are rumors of it being touchscreen QWERTY hybrid. According to these specs, it’s closer to the Onyx, and it’s a Bold replacement. The specs are a little off but that is to be expected with prerelease devices. For example, the optical trackpad isn’t listed but that is usually the last thing to be put into the device before release. The Magnum is listed as having the Bold as a predecessor, and rumors suggest the Magnum is basically an 8900 with 3G.

I’ve posted the rumored specs for both, but I’m personally really skeptical. For now, lets just use the specs as a launching pad for discussions about the upcoming devices.

What do you think about the specs as they’re presented? The expected release dates for both devices is September 2009, which is doable but really soon.
