Mformation Technologies, a handset management software firm, filed suit with RIM on Friday for patent infringement. Mformation alleges in its lawsuit that RIM has infringed upon two patents related to methods of “remote device management.”
“After refusing to license Mformation’s disclosed systems and software, RIM modified its BlackBerry software to include Mformation’s patented systems and methods of remote management,” Mformation said.
Mformation did not specify what remedies it is seeking. The lawsuit was filed in the District Court for the Northern District of California. We’ll obviously follow this story closely and let you know how it develops.

Founder and controlling shareholder of Rogers Communications, Ted Rogers, has been hospitalized for a heart ailment. Rogers, who turned 75 in May, has had heart trouble since the 1980s and will remain in hospital to monitor his health. Stepping in as acting CEO will be Alan Horn, former Rogers CFO and current board chairman.
Despite all the fun we have with Rogers and the Fake Rogers moniker, we wish Mr. Rogers a speedy and quick recovery.

French software developer Codasystem announced yesterday the release of their Shoot&Proof application for BlackBerry. Shoot&Proof allows enterprise and prosumer users to host and share images taken via their BlackBerry in a secure environment. Because it establishes the legal value of photos—who took what pictures, when and where— Shoot&Proof can be deployed by construction and public works, real estate, poster advertising, the press and maintenance industries.
