OS 4.5 available for Sprint BlackBerry Curve 8330 and Pearl 8130

Nan PalmeroWhen you see Nan Palmero punching out the air like a BlackBerry-enhanced Adonis, it can only mean one thing: OS 4.5 is available for your BlackBerry. Today it’s the BlackBerry Curve 8330 and BlackBerry Pearl 8130 on the Sprint network. We have a quick rundown of new features in OS 4.5, as well as download instructions for your BlackBerry enjoyment.

OS 4.5 Features and Improvements:

OTASL (Over The Air Software Loading) This enables all future versions of handheld software to be downloaded and installed wirelessly

MMS (Audio, pictures, text, or all three in the same message)

Docs to Go (device-side Word, Excel, and Powerpoint document editing capabilities)

Sounds pretty great, right? Download instructions for BIS and BES users are after the jump. We’ve also heard that OS 4.5 will be released for the BlackBerry 8830 in a few weeks, with an 8703(!) release coming at the end of Q1.

Thanks for the tip, Rob!

Virgin Mobile Canada launches BlackBerry Curve 8330

Comment

Virgin Mobile Canada has officially released their second BlackBerry handset, the BlackBerry Curve 8330. Virgin seems hell-bent on locking Canadians into a three year contract, but the price seems about right at $49.99 on a 3-year contract (with any BlackBerry Bundle). Otherwise, our fellow Canucks will have to shell out $329.99 on a 2-year plan, $379.99 on a 1-year plan or $429.99 for 30 days (read: not worth it).

To sweeten the arrangement, Virgin is throwing in an 8GB MicroSD card while supplies last. Hopefully they will also make a new video promoting the ‘Virgin Lifestyle’.

Virgin Mobile Canada gets the BlackBerry Curve

Comment

virgin blackberry curve

The devilish chaps over at IntoMobile just sent me an email saying that Virgin Mobile Canada is set to carry the BlackBerry Curve 8330 starting in November for $99 on a three year contract. Currently, Virgin only carries the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, which may seem like a small selection (it is), but Virgin is all about the cheap plans. You can see their BlackBerry Bundle monthly plan chart after the jump.
