TELUS have recently launched the BlackBerry Curve 8530 for $49.99 on a 3 year plan. You can also get it on 2 and 1 year plans for $249.99 and $349.99 respectively. The 8530 is a really solid phone with a trackpad and OS 5, and I’m expecting a lot of TELUS users to pick this one up. The downside here is that while many carriers are offering the 8530 for free, TELUS still want to offload their old 8330 stock and are offering that device for $0.

Over the years RIM has been continually changing the BlackBerry battery cover. Some covers have been better than others, and I thought I’d put together a review post including new and older devices. The devices included in this review are:
BlackBerry Bold 9700
BlackBerry Curve 8530
BlackBerry Bold 9000
BlackBerry Storm 9550
BlackBerry Storm 9530
BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220
BlackBerry Tour 9630
Generally, I’m looking for a battery cover to be solid, sturdy, easy to remove and put back on, and have an element of fashionable design.
Sprint let us know that they have launched the BlackBerry Curve 8530 and it’s available and ready for purchase in time for the holidays. You can purchase through Sprint retail, online, telephone at 1-800-SPRINT1 and Sprint Business Sales for $49.99 on new-line activations or eligible upgrades with a two-year service agreement, after a $50 instant rebate and $100 mail-in rebate.
MobileSyrup is reporting that the Curve 8530 will be making its way to Bell, rumored to launch on December 26th. Considering Boxing Day is the day when most stores offer the cheapest deals, I can’t imagine them selling the 8530 for anything but free. The device will likely come in either Black or Royal Purple.
Back at the BlackBerry Developer Conference, Loopt had some significant updates where they added more LBS features such as search powered by Pulse.
The latest update is that Loopt is now available for more devices such as the Bold 9700, Curve 8520 and 8530. Loopt have also told us they are working on a version for the Storm at the moment so hang tight.

I really can’t say that this leaked OS 184.108.40.2066 is going to have any huge impact on the 8530, considering it launches with OS 220.127.116.117. Bla1ze at CB is saying it will be the OS that TELUS will officially launch with, but I haven’t heard much about stability.
