First Impressions of the BlackBerry Curve Touch aka Curve 9380

Comments

Recently, RIM invited some media to check out the BlackBerry Curve 9380; the device we call the Curve Touch. This device is a lot like the Torch 9860 (what we call the Storm 3), except it’s much smaller and we believe it will be at a cheaper price point. The device is targeting APAC (Asia Pacific), which explains the size and price point. The following is not a review of the device, merely just a few things I noticed while playing with the device for a brief period.

A Preview of Upcoming BlackBerry Devices: Apollo, Torch 2 and Monaco

Comments

It’s an interesting time for BlackBerrys as the company has been getting slammed in the media. One analyst even went as far as saying that RIM has lost the consumer market. One of the reasons the company is probably not doing well with the media lately is because RIM is in a transition period. The company is embarking on an entirely new operating system for its devices and it has a lot of potential. In the meantime, RIM is going to release a series of devices that look like decent upgrades to the current product lines, but will probably not garner the attention they should from media. Also, there’s a lot of questions in the air about whether the upcoming QNX OS will be able to run on these devices, or if people will be purchasing hardware that won’t be able to get the next year’s software. Let’s take a look at what this summer has to offer.

All New BlackBerrys Leaked Including New Curve Touch Malibu

We’re pretty familiar with RIM’s 2011 lineup for the most part, but a recent leak shows us a new device we haven’t seen before and it looks pretty cool. The BlackBerry Curve Malibu, a touchscreen Curve device, looks really slick and while the specs may not blow you away, they’re still a step up and the form factor is probably its best selling point. The device is rumored to be marketed as an “entry-level” device, much like the Curve series in general, so it should be interesting to see how this touchscreen device fares in the market.

Included with the device lineup leaks is some news about BlackBerry 6.1 and the improvements it will bring in terms of gaming, apps, graphics and augmented reality. OS 6.1 will feature something called “liquid graphics”, for smoother graphics processing, more homescreen and UI customization options, voice-activated Universal Search and a generally faster experience thanks to the hardware boost.

Other devices in the CDMA 2011 lineup leaked include: the Monaco (new Storm), Sedona (new Curve) and Montana (touchscreen Bold). Hit the jump for the leaked slides and details:
