RIM Announces Multi-Platform Enterprise Solution for Smartphones and Tablets

Comments

RIM has announced new multi-platform management solution for enterprise. The solution will incorporate secure device management for iOS, Android, and tablets all managed from convenient web-based console.

We’ve been hearing a lot about multi-platform deployments gaining steam in enterprise and this looks like a good tool for IT departments and CTOs to manage a multi-platform deployment. The web console will help manage and distribute software, manage policies, inventory and security services.

This new solution is from RIM’s acquisition of Ubitexx, a company that specializes in multiplatform mobile deployment software. They make a point of mentioning that there are many more security options available on the BlackBerry platform but I still find it interesting that RIM has listened to their CTO clients and embraced multiplatform deployments. RIM intends to launch this service for general availability summer 2011.

e-Mobile Today

I’ve been searching for an app that gives you the functionality of the Windows Mobile “today” screen, something that essentially briefs me on all of my appointments, missed calls, emails and text messages in one convenient place. Enter e-Mobile Today by E-Mobile Software, Inc.. This is one sharp looking app that’s packed with features. It allows you to do everything described above, without really requiring you to leave the application to remain up-to-date on things. If you find that the regular version is lacking, you can always go with e-Mobile Today Professional Edition which allows you to everything the regular version does, and more. In addition to offering more visual customization options, the professional edition offers all of the convenient launch points to multiple tasks – replying to e-mails and SMSs, calling people directly from the missed call log, creating new appointments, etc. – that you wouldn’t find in the standard version. You can even add a few expansion packs (weather, stocks, and news) to make your home screen more complete!

Datepedia v.1.0.3 for BlackBerry Curve 83xx, 88xx Series Reviewed!

Mobatech

Looking for… oh… what’s it called again? Oh yea… no… lost it. Wait! Some application to help you remember really important events and holidays? Datepedia by Mobatech will help you do just that.

Datepedia is a neat little app that lets you export various events and holidays to your calendar, whether it be native to your country, your religion, or your preferred sports league. Yup, the makers of Mobile Bartender – another cool app that includes over 200 drink recipes and duly encourages my drinking and forgetfulness – have created an app that can combat even the worst of hangovers. If you’ve got too big a headache to remember the newly created Family Day, Datepedia may be the one thing that vindicates your playing hooky.

ColorLight v.2.2.0 for BlackBerry Reviewed!

As some of you may know, I recently reviewed EasyTip v.2.1.0 by Adorno – an app that many of our online store’s customers seem to love, but one that is received with mixed reviews by our readers nevertheless. ColorLight, another Adorno app does explicitly what its’ name implies: it changes the colour of your lights (your status LED and, if you’ve got a Pearl, your trackball). If you need to spice things up a little and there’s no Goofy Hat Friday or (my personal favorite) Overalls Wednesday in sight, or you simply need to differentiate your device from a large fleet of BlackBerry devices (let’s face it, a more likely reason), then ColorLight may be the app you’re looking for.
