Ubisoft, Square Enix, Microsoft and More Speaking at Ottawa International Game Conference

The Ottawa International Game Conference (OIGC) has announced its speakers for the 3rd annual conference. Speakers from Canada, the United States, Latin America and Britain will be coming to the conference to share their experience and love of gaming. This year’s conference is expecting record attendance and the content is reflective of a bigger budget and a changing industry.

Speakers include:

OIGC Ottawa International Game Conference

The Ottawa International Game Conference is on its 3rd year and the conference has just put out a call for speakers. The OIGC is an annual game industry conference in Ottawa, Canada, that runs from May 25th to May 27th, and features speakers, workshops, panels and some great parties. The conference is currently looking for content and if you’re in the industry, head over and suggest something.

The Government Technology conference is in Ottawa this week and it’s interesting to see what the hot topics are. This year, the biggest issues are centered around apps, BYOD, cybersecurity and general mobility. It got me thinking about what technologies will disappear in the coming years, and which will be increasingly important. What will governments be concerned about 50 years from now? The BlackBerry Q5 Officially Announced at BlackBerry Live 2013

The BlackBerry Q5 has just been announced at BlackBerry Live 2013 and it’s billed as a device for emerging markets. Essentially, the Q5 is to the Q10 in the same way that the Curve is to the Bold. It comes in a variety of colors including BlackBerry, White, Pink and Red. Stay tuned for more updates from BlackBerry Live.

We’ve also heard that BlackBerry Q10 will be available in early June in the US and BlackBerry 10.1 available for Z10 users by the end of the week.

BlackBerry Jam Conference in San Jose is More Apps Less Games

We’re at BlackBerry Jam in San Jose, California and there’s something interesting about the session catalogue: a total lack of anything ScoreLoop related and very little about gaming. This is probably a conscious decision on the part of RIM as BlackBerry World was almost too much gaming and the company may have gotten some flack from app developers about it. It would have made sense for RIM to be a little more open about the fact that this is not a gaming related conference, and that the focus will be on utility-style apps.
