Foursquare 3.0 Gets Official – Download it Now

Comments

foursquare

Foursquare for BlackBerry is now officially 3.0 and it features an overhauled UI and deals from LivingSocial, Gilt City, BuyWithMe, YP.com, and zozi. The app also now has a full leaderboard to see what your friends are doing and the next update will include BBM integration.

The problem with Foursquare has always been that the effort required to checkin somewhere never really had any significant reward. Sure, you could tell your friends where you are, but if they’re really your friends they probably know. You also might get some reward from telling your Twitter and Facebook followers where you are, but they actually don’t care. There is nothing worse than seeing someone in your Twitter stream checkin to some errand they’re running as though anyone actually cares about the minutia in their day.

Foursquare let us know that they’ve updated the BlackBerry app to include support for AmEX specials. The AmEX specials include deals such as “spend at least $5 at a local merchant in Austin, and get a $5 savings applied directly to your monthly statement.” To set up your Foursquare account for AmEX specials, do the following:

  • link your AmEx and foursquare accounts (you can do it here);
  • check in at a participating store and tap ‘load to card’ on the Special; and,
  • pay with your AmEx card.

Bplay This Week – Awesome Space Inspired Theme, Great Deal On Games From Glu Mobile

Comments

space theme

Two exciting items of excitement to report from Bplay HQ this week. First off, they’ve got one of Magmic’s newest themes called Space: 1999. I’ve been running it on my 9700 for the last week and a half, and I absolutely love it. I’ve also tested this them on other devices including the Torch 9800, and it runs beautifully. It takes space inspired animations and comic book style art to the next level. It goes completely against your standard Zen and Today style themes, and adds an element of artsiness that seems to have become rare in the world of BlackBerry themes. We’re not all suit-dummies, you know. Fans of the past ‘Propaganda‘ theme from Magmic will definitely love this theme.

Secondly (but not less importantly), Bplay sent out an email to all of its subscribers letting them know that Glu Mobile, makers of Call of Duty: Black Ops Mobile and Family Feud Mobile, has slashed their prices on a number of their top selling titles. Some of those games include the aforementioned ones, Blur Racing, World Series Poker, and many more. This sale will last throughout the month on June.

You can easily download out all of these titles and more by visiting our Bplay store.

Get Coupons and Discounts to Your BlackBerry with Clip Mobile

clip for blackberry

Clip is a pretty cool service that aims to take the coupon service to your BlackBerry. Clip Mobile is a free app that uses the GPS in your BlackBerry to search, save and redeem deals from local businesses and national retailers. Since this is a location based service, deals will vary tremendously based on your location and it looks like this app is best for those living in Toronto. This particular BlackBerry announcement is not available to those in the States. Given some time, this service will likely roll out across North America.

So while Americans are celebrating Thanksgiving, Canadians can go ahead and download Clip Mobile from App World.
