The PlayBook is an awesome piece of hardware and one of the funnest things to do with your PlayBook, aside from playing some of the recently launched premium games, is to read. The PlayBook is novel size, making it a great reading device for news as well as eBooks. Recently launched in App World is Taptu, a news reader with a cool twist. The app brings together news from a wide variety of sources including RSS, twitter, facebook and LinkedIn. Even better, the app lest you create your own news streams with a combination of sources, allowing you to “DJ your news”. And best of all, it’s free.

Instant Messaging suite IM+ for BlackBerry has been updated. The full-featured Messaging app plugs into all the popular IM clients into a single all-in-one app.
One of the problems with checking in is checkin fatigue. The fact that these social networks require you to manually enter your location makes them pretty tedious considering there is often little to no reward. LittleBrother, a location-based service application by emacberry, has recently been updated and allows you to set locations to automatically checkin via foursquare and facebook when you enter these locations. It’s an awesome feature that companies like foursquare would do well to implement themselves.

There are so many more effective ways that a person can discover an app and word-of-mouth is one of them.
