One of the problems with checking in is checkin fatigue. The fact that these social networks require you to manually enter your location makes them pretty tedious considering there is often little to no reward. LittleBrother, a location-based service application by emacberry, has recently been updated and allows you to set locations to automatically checkin via foursquare and facebook when you enter these locations. It’s an awesome feature that companies like foursquare would do well to implement themselves.

Foursquare is still going strong and updating the BlackBerry client with more features to keep you coming back. The most recent update features a notification tray that notifies you of activity in the system that you may want to know about. The biggest selling point for foursquare is deals and it’s still going to be some time before you notice a decent amount of deals in small towns and cities.

Last weekend foursquare held a global hackathon where developers all over the world sat down with the foursquare API to see what they could come up with. The results were pretty awesome and BlackBerryCool was at the Ottawa event checking out the local talent. There were a couple awesome projects on the go including a framework for developing foursquare applications, and a game called Zsquare for the iPhone. More after the break.

When we last wrote about Pinch about a year ago, we said Pinch was coming “soon” to the BlackBerry platform. We haven’t really kept up with the service since but it looks like the service is now available for BlackBerry.
