Free Apps For Canadian Z10, Q10 and Q5 Owners!

From September 17th to October 31st, BlackBerry Z10, Q10 and Q5 owners in Canada will be able to get up to $25 worth of premium apps for free. The eligible apps include the Twitter client “Blaq,” productivity tool “SlickTasks,” image editor “Photo Studio Pro,” and games like “World of Goo” and “Modern Combat 4.” BlackBerry 10 customers can redeem this offer by entering the promo code “fallapps” on BlackBerry World.

BlackBerry App World Drops Beta Category From App World and Creates New Categories

Developers just recently got an email from RIM saying there has been some significant changes made to the App World categories. Some of the more notable changes include a Music Creation category (perhaps for more apps like Pace Maker), and the Beta category has been dropped. RIM has also added some new categories for children, which makes sense considering all the new Kids content for PlayBook.

The Jared Company has a pretty large portfolio of BlackBerry apps that help make your smartphone more powerful. The apps are mostly what we call “gap fillers” – apps that fill a feature hole in the BlackBerry OS and give the platform more power. It’s these kinds of apps that we’re really hoping have a big presence in BlackBerry 10, but it’s not clear how that’s coming along. Free iSpeech App Gift Now Available for Bold 9900 and OS 7 Devices

Translation makes a lot of sense as an essential tool for your mobile. As you travel around the world or even through the various ethnic neighborhoods, we’ve all been in the situation where you want to communicate something but there’s a language barrier. The latest gift from BlackBerry is iSpeech Translator Pro and when the app was announced as a gift it wasn’t available for the Bold 9900 and some other high end devices. Now this isn’t the case.

RIM Needs to Have Its Own Apps Updated for Device Launches

There has been a slew of new BlackBerry 7 devices that have launched recently and one of the first things you notice about them is the number of “not available for your device” messages in App World. This sends a negative message to not only the consumer, but especially to developers. Why should developers update their apps for OS 7 when RIM doesn’t even see the need to prepare for launch date?
