Photo filtering apps are getting a lot of attention with apps like Instagram having so much success. There’s a new, free app on BlackBerry called BibbyCam that gives you up to 14 filters for your pictures such as Lomo, Old Photo and Sunshine.

MyMusicCloud lets users sync their iTunes and other media players across smartphones, tablets and desktop computers. The app works across BlackBerry, iPhone, and Android and lets you sync over the air and automatically, without the need for a USB cable or ‘sync’ button. The latest update to the app is that the service is now fully integrated with Dropbox.

It’s an interesting proposition. How much does RIM really make on the PlayBook when compared to its handset sales and recurring revenue from carriers? It’s probably fairly minimal and considering the PlayBook is integral to the BlackBerry 10 roadmap, maybe seeding the market with free PlayBooks is the way to go. By attaching a free PlayBook with every smartphone sold, RIM would encourage smartphone sales and thus its primary revenue source, while making a significant dent in the tablet market.

Smarter Apps has recently released a free version of Vampire Hunter, a tower defense game in the style of Plants vs Zombies. The free version of Vampire Hunter gives you two levels to try so you can get a feel for what the game is like. If you like the game, you can always upgrade to the paid version which has 45 levels. Smarter Apps made some pretty big updates in terms of levels to its Angry Farm title, so they may upgrade the 45 levels in Vampire Hunter too. Overall, it’s a good investment.

Instagram is a huge hit on iPhone and a lot of its success can be attributed to the photo effects that it provides. Taking a photo with Instagram always looks great and the same photo effects can be applied using some of the photo editors and Instagram copies on BlackBerry. A free photo effect app called Photo Studio has recently been updated to include BBM Social as well as new effects.
