The NHL GameCenter app provides live scores, stats, and video on demand for free, as well as live, out-of-market streams for those who have purchased a $49.99 subscription. The app allows fans to watch live and archived games featuring teams outside a fan’s local market across multiple screens, including smartphones, tablets, computers and connected devices. Burried in the press release for the app was a cool tidbit for BlackBerry users: the NHL GameCenter app will be coming to BlackBerry 10 “later this season”.

Free To Play (F2P) Games Have Big Potential On BlackBerry 10

Free to Play games are the next big thing on mobile. More accurately, the problem the big thing right now on mobile. The leaders of Free To Play (F2P), are by far iOS and Android. The reason being is that these platforms have both the games and the users to make for a market that is favorable to F2P. BlackBerry 10 arguably has the right technical specs to be a competitor, but what it’s really lacking is the user base. But lets be hypothetical for a minute; what if BlackBerry 10 had the users? There are a couple aspects of BlackBerry 10 that make it highly competitive in today’s market. One is the payment relationships RIM has. The other is its commitment to a its developers.

Sava Transmedia’s Jesse Glick On Monetizing Free To Play Games

Sava Transmedia is a Montreal game studio of about 30 employees that makes the popular Facebook and iOS game Rubber Tacos. The game is free to play and is published by Zynga, which gives them a great deal of exposure and the volume required to make free to play work. We sat down at MIGS 2012 with Sava’s Director of Monetization Design, Jesse Glick.
