Foursquare has just launched a really cool new feature called Foursquare Explore that allows users to discover great new venues and things going on in their city without having to sign-up or sign-in. It’s a great idea that more apps should leverage. While it’s important for a company to sign-up users, there comes a point when forcing someone to sign-up becomes a barrier to entry to the service. Now you can get value out of the app without having to jump through the sign-in hoop.

The company has 6.5M daily active users and recently, we heard the President of the company say that Screen Muncher once did 409,000 downloads in a single day. That’s a pretty incredible number by any standard and it definitely smashes the myth that BlackBerry apps can’t get huge download numbers. There are 77 million BlackBerry subscribers after all.
