BlackBerryCool Roundup for the Week of April 12th

This was a slower than usual week on BlackBerryCool but there are still some gems lying around. In apps, we saw some awesome updates from some old favorites such as Gym Technik, Druglord Wars 2, Cortado and Tvider. There are also some newish players to the scene such as Kik, who launched a very nice chat client which will soon come with video support as well. The Pearl 9100 has been making the rounds with a T9 and QWERTY keyboard, which should be great for sales in the European markets. We’ve also seen some interesting news on the wire, including a report that BlackBerry usage is the highest during the weekday compared to iPhone.

Gym Technik Partner with WiThings Internet Connected Scale

Gym Technik have announced a partnership with the WiThings Internet connected scale, making their app compatible with the device and allowing a user to use the data in the Gym Technik NextGen app. The body stats are automatically sent from the WiThings scale to your BlackBerry and you receive an email summarizing your weigh-in stats. From within this email, you can click a link to launch the NextGen app and display your body stat graph.

Gym Technik’s NextGen App Now OS 5 Compatible

Gym Technik let us know that their fitness app for BlackBerry, NextGen, has been updated. The app is now compatible with OS 5 devices including the Storm2. Gym Technik’s NetGen app helps you track your workout routines and optimize them. The app breaks down your workouts with graphs and analytics and gives you a better picture of what you’re doing.

It was a little slow going for the holidays but the big news is centered around the recent outages. There have been far too many in too short a time period and RIM needs to address the issue. Perhaps it’s time RIM invests in more redundancies as it seems far too easy for the network to crash. Other than that, there are a ton of new apps to check out, many of them free.

Gym Technik launch the NextGen Fitness App for the Storm

Gym Technik have launched the NextGen BlackBerry Fitness App for the Storm. The problem is, the app is only available for Storm users running OS 4.x and is not compatible with OS 5 or the Storm2.

If you haven’t used the app before, Gym Technik is an app to track your workout routines and optimize them. The app breaks down your workouts with graphs and analytics and gives you a better picture of what you’re doing.

Gym Technik for the BlackBerry Storm coming in two weeks

StormDataEntryWhen we posted about RoadRunnerGPS, a lot of BlackBerry Cool readers recommended using Gym Technik for weight training. At first, this app was a web-based client but a few weeks ago they went native, which really helps if your gym is in a basement.
