Rove, known in a previous life as Idokorro, will be coming to WES this year, likely showing off their newly-released PCMobilizr. Traditionally geared towards enterprise remote access software for BlackBerry, with apps such as the Mobile Citrix Client, Mobile Admin, and Mobile SSH, PCMobilizr represents a new direction for Rove. Rather than appealing solely to the IT crowd, PCMobilizr gives easy remote desktop access to your average Joe. We talked with them shortly after the launch, if you’re interested in hearing more about it.
Local Ottawa company, Idokorro, have finally come to the grim realization that their name is downright silly, and have announced a change to the considerably sleeker Rove. At least they’ve got a sense of humor about it, eh? For anyone unfamiliar with Rove, they do a whole range of office utility applications for your BlackBerry. Mobile Admin lets you manage your network servers while on the move; Mobile Citrix Client gives you access from your BlackBerry to applications published on your Citrix Presentation Server; Mobile SSH gives you an SSH and Telnet client so you can create terminal sessions on Unix and Linux servers, among others; Mobile File Manager hooks you up with file access on your remote computers and networks; and finally, Mobile Desktop gives you remote access to your computer, be it Windows, Mac, Linux or just about anything else, so you can view the desktop and control the mouse and keyboard from your BlackBerry. Hometown company Idokorro received Vodafone Certified Application status yesterday for their Mobile Admin software. From the sounds of it, having a Vodafone Certified Application is a lot like being in RIM’s Independent Software Vendor Alliance.
As a Vodafone Certified Application, Idokorro Mobile now has access to Vodafone UK’s technical expertise and will be recommended to appropriate customers by Vodafone UK account managers. Idokorro Mobile Admin will be identified by the “Vodafone Certified Application” brand logo. This will allow Idokorro to benefit from Vodafone UK’s position as the UK’s largest mobile network operator, offering its customers in-depth support and peace of mind when deploying new mobile applications.
Good stuff, guys. You get a gold star.
Breaking news coming out of Orlando this afternoon, folks. Our good pals (and local drinking buddies) over at Idokorro Mobile just informed us that they are the winners of not one, but two awards at Microsoft’s Tech Ed 2007 Conference. Their stalwart Mobile Admin solution was awarded Special Recognition: Most Notable Product, while new upstart Mobile Citrix was the Attendees Pick for Best Mobility Solution.
Congrats Idokorro! Drinks are on you guys when you make it back to O-town.
