The BlackBerry Bold launches in Jordan via Orange

Orange Jordan have announced that they’re launching the BlackBerry Bold, arguably RIM’s flagship device. While we aren’t seeing any details on pricing, the BlackBerry Bold comes at a recommended retail price of $1,199.

If you visit the Orange Jordan site, there isn’t a link for BlackBerry or any information on what devices they sell. There is, on the other hand, a ton of information about the iPhone. It will be interesting to see how many Jordinians buy the BlackBerry Bold, even though it doesn’t seem to have much in the way of marketing.

BlackBerry hits second Kenyan carrier

KenyaAs predicted, Celtel announced BES support in Kenya today. Once again, EMS partnered up with Celtel to bring BlackBerry service to a new market. (Celtel Kenya’s parent company, MTC, has done some business recently with Fastlink out in Jordan.) Celtel’s seeing Safaricom’s initial two releases of the Pearl and BlackBerry 8700, and raising them a BlackBerry 8800. We’ll keep you posted on how these two compete in the months to come.

BlackBerry Pearl drops in Jordan

Flag of JordanAlthough it’s mostly been Curve releases as of late, any BlackBerrys breaking into untouched countries is good to know about. Jordan now has access to the BlackBerry 8100 via Fastlink, the country’s first wireless carrier. BlackBerry’s first inroads with Fastlink began back in February with the release of the 8700, after which the devices were very quick to catch on. As a result, Fastlink won RIM’s Award of Excellence back at the 3GSM World Congress 2007 in Barcelona for their rapid and efficient deployment. Business opportunities are starting to pick up over there, resulting in the demand for the handhelds – with any luck, the trend will continue and Fastlink will be able to carry more than two devices.
