We’ve been following Kompass for Basecamp for some time now because Basecamp is a popular tool for small business to stay organized and manage projects, and Kompass has provided a solid mobile component. The app uses a web interface rather than a mobile app because small companies tend to have more fragmentation than large companies and the web is a common thread.

Kompass for Basecamp has been in private beta for some time now and after some extensive testing, they’re now offering the app as a public beta. Along with the original features in the private beta, version 1.0 now has some new features including:
- Multi-account access
- File viewing / downloading
- Legacy support for older BlackBerry devices (prior to OS 4.6)
- Web-clip support for iPhones
- Improved speed for larger accounts

Kompass for BlackBerry is a mobile site that is optimized for smartphones including BlackBerry. The fact that it’s a mobile site offers some advantages and disadvantages, and this review aims to highlight each aspect of this choice. Basecamp is a project management platform used by many businesses, and considering the number of SMBs on BlackBerry, it’s surprising a native app hasn’t yet been developed.
