Leaked Beta of Facebook 1.8.0.31 Available for Download

UPDATE: Link broken. We’ll update if another becomes available.

Facebook for BlackBerry isn’t the best application out there but it’s certainly one of the most popular. When we last heard about Facebook 1.8, rumors had it that there would be the following features:

  • Faster load times
  • Video uploading
  • Replacing BIS-E notifications with BlackBerry Push APIs

Playing around with a leaked copy of version 1.8.0.31, there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of “faster load times” and the video uploading isn’t available. Considering this is leaked software, it isn’t surprising but hopefully version 1.8 will come with more than just vague performance improvements.

Rumor: Verizon LTE BlackBerry Storm 3 to Feature Unique OS

The BlackBerry Storm 3 specs are very much a rumor right now but there are a few interesting talking points worth mentioning. The major rumors here are that the Storm 3 will feature upwards of 1GB of flash memory, a 1GHz processor, a new OS (not OS 6 but rather an OS on its own) and it could be one of the first LTE devices on Verizon’s upgraded network.

Other rumors about the Storm 3 include:

  • Tested in a very private beta to prevent leaks.
  • Currently disguised as a Storm2 in case an engineer gets drunk and leaves it at a bar.
  • 8GB internal memory.
  • Lots of personalization and the ability to run widgets.
  • The screen will be something we haven’t seen yet. It could be a Synaptics touchscreen that would make for a much “lighter” touch experience.

So far it sounds like the new Storm is going to be something very different than its predecessors. Hopefully this new OS is something that will mean more apps, usability and overall a better end user experience.

More BlackBerry Curve 9300 Kepler Images Leaked

Comments

The latest pictures of the BlackBerry Curve 9300 Kepler reveal something interesting about OS 6 and it’s rollback potential. The device, while it only has 256MB of RAM and is currently running OS 5, is on the 6.0 platform, which suggests it may be OS 6 capable. We have had some IT professionals write in to say that their carrier reps told them 256MB is the cutoff for OS 6, and if this is the case, many more devices than previously thought would be getting the OS 6 rollback. Again, only time will tell and we’ll have to wait until a couple OS 6 devices are on the market.

Other specs of the 9300 include:

  • 3G
  • WiFi
  • 624MHZ processor

There may also be a 9320 and 9330 in development. These may have 512MB of RAM. Be sure to hit the jump and read the rest of the article for more pics.
