Texas Hold’em King Live (THKLive) by Magmic is a really interesting poker game that we’ve written about several times. The game uses in-app purchases and virtual currency for a poker experience unlike any other on BlackBerry. A little known fact about the game is that you can get access to a huge portfolio of avatars that can be used in game, by connecting your account to pretzil.com. We’re always curious which developers are submitting a portfolio of apps to App World. In this case, we’re more concerned with apps such as a game, utility or IM client, and much less so an eBook, audio book or theme. It’s a difficult process to compile a list of popular developers because there isn’t a good way of sorting through the data to find who has submitted a large portfolio of apps. In order to do this, we’re simply starting with the developers we’re familiar with through BlackBerryCool, and doing a little searching on the side. This article will get better as more people comment their findings too, so feel free to comment the developer’s vendor page with the number of apps they’ve submitted and we’ll add them to the list. Magmic has been in the themes business since themes were first introduced to the platform. The company has gone from basic Zen themes to premium animated themes and they’ve learned a lot about the business. If you’re a theme lover or theme developer, you should definitely add them on BBM. Back in June we wrote about an app showcase featuring QContinuum, WICKSoft, Zeebu, GlitchSoft and Magmic. The event was hosted by Rob Woodbridge, former CEO of Rove current owner of Untether’d. The app showcase featured a group of developers meeting to show off their apps and it was cool to see what’s brewing locally in Ottawa.

Magmic has updated the Texas Hold’em King Live Beta in App world and it now features support for the BlackBerry Torch as well as some fixes for the Storm/Storm2. The newest version is now available on App World for free so it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re a poker player.
Here is the basic change log:

- More Table Types (Higher Stakes)
- Larger Chat Log (Stores 200 lines)
- Player’s Names now scroll if larger than 9 characters
- Folded Hole Cards fade, rather than disappear
