XING is very much akin to the social network for enterprise, LinkedIn. The site has a similar look and feel while clearly targeting the same demographic.
The site has launched a free piece of software that keeps track of all the user’s contacts, and makes phone numbers and email addresses available online. Your contacts are automatically updated online by the members themselves.
XING has done a great job of recognizing their target market are on BlackBerry, while I still haven’t seen a BlackBerry app for LinkedIn. This app is sure to please XING users, and ideally help them better network in their industry.
To download the free app, visit XING.com from your BlackBerry Browser.
The XING app requires an Internet-enabled BlackBerry smartphone running OS Version 4.2.1 or later with at least 64 MB internal memory and 170 KB of available memory.

Shozu is now going from “free” to “fee.” On the heels of ShoZu’s new leadership announcement last week, the company plans to unveil its new corporate strategy and paid app store model today at Mobile 2.0 in Barcelona.
Though currently only available on Apple’s iTunes app store, ShoZu will soon be accessible through additional stores and outlets, to be announced at a later date.
Distribution through additional stores such as Nokia’s Ovi, RIM’s BlackBerry App World and Microsoft’s Windows Mobile Marketplace will be announced. The application also continues to be available from London-based ShoZu at www.shozu.com and its mobile site at m.shozu.com.
The ShoZu application currently is available from Apple’s App Store for $4.99 and a similar price point will be used for App World.
Personally, I can’t bring myself to pay for a social network but I could see many paying to not lose the friends they made on the site. Anybody buying?

When we last wrote about BlackBerry Ave., it seemed like a direct competitor to BBMNation. The site has recently had a complete overhaul and looks much better. At this point it stands to be a decent social network for BlackBerry users.
BlackBerry Ave currently has over 1000 members and they’re growing at under 50 users per day. Built on the Elgg Social Network platform, the site has been optimized for both desktop and BlackBerry viewing.
Check out BlackBerry Ave for yourself.

BBMNation
BBMNation is a social network that, like most BlackBerry social networks, uses PINs to connect users. Designed by a night club promoter named Steven Ojo and his partner Alex Trumpower, the site launched about a year ago. The site is incredibly bare bones, and has a graphical style reminiscent of web 1.0. On the bright side, its users seem to be attractive college students, possibly associated with Steven Ojo’s night club background.
You can register for BBMNation here.
Magmic Social
Magmic Social aims to connect its BlackBerry and mobile gamers with one another in order to create a better overall mobile gaming experience. The site does this by connecting users, creating high scores, developing personalized avatars and promoting a more interactive community.
Magmic Social is in my opinion, the most unique of all the BlackBerry social networks. The reason is that is focuses on the one aspect of BlackBerry that gets the least news coverage: games. I’m hard pressed to find a blog that focuses on BlackBerry games specifically, which is interesting considering it’s such an up-and-coming market.
