MyCaption for BlackBerry offers accurate single-click SMS dictation

MyCaption makes really excellent voice recognition software for BlackBerry and their product has recently been updated.

In the latest version of MyCaption, 1.4.8, you can now dictate SMS messages. All you have to do is simply “Speak Your SMS”, and it will be delivered as text, accurately and conveniently. Users can attach a convenience key to this feature, so text messages can be dictated with a single click.

This feature adds more functionality to a product that provides dictation of business-length email (up to 3 minutes long), memos, contact notes, tasks and appointments. The application also includes support for the BES, connectivity to enterprise applications, support for multiple email accounts, and a customizable dictionary to fit the user’s vocabulary.

Users who have already downloaded MyCaption can upgrade for free or pick it up on a free trial. The application costs $10.

MyCaption announces free upgrade – better UI and more functions

MyCaption is a voice to text service for BlackBerry that blends with your email, calendar, contacts, tasks and memos. The accuracy of the voice recognition technology is really impressive, even for long emails.

The company have just announced a upgrade for the product, available to all existing customers. New users can get a brief free trial too. Like previous versions, the new version works with nearly all BlackBerry models running OS 4.2.1+, including the BlackBerry Curve, Storm, Bold, Pearl and 8800.

Here are some highlights:

  • For BlackBerry Storm users, a new UI with bigger buttons makes it easier to operate the voice recorder. You can hold the Storm and operate the recorder with two thumbs, in either portrait or landscape orientation.
  • Support for convenience key is now much more extensive. You can program it to select one of four options. You can compose a new email, or compose one of three PIM items — a task, memo or an appointment — without even looking at your BlackBerry. With a single click, you can record your voice. Another click, and you are done.
  • Support for secure HTTP and BlackBerry Enterprise Server is included. BES users have to simply set a “Use BES” flag to “Yes”.
  • Another helpful feature of this app is the option to “Review before Send”. After you dictate your email — up to 3 minutes long — you can review it, make corrections and changes, and then send it off. This gives you the peace of mind of knowing that your email will be delivered 100% the way you intended.

I’ve personally used this application for several articles on BlackBerry Cool, including to get transcripts of interviews. If you’re looking to do any significant amount of typing on your device, it’s best to start with this application, and get the lion’s share of the work done fast and efficiently.

MyCaption is available for $10 or on a free trial.

MyCaption uses Yap technology and human editors for accuracy

MyCaption is a voice-to-text app that we have written about a few times. The company has announced today that it will be using speech recognition technology from Yap, Inc. to drive their business applications for BlackBerry and PBX Voicemail.

Personally, I’ve tried MyCaption and found it incredibly accurate. Although I don’t use it for enterprise purposes, I have found a great consumer use. Whenever I get emails from old friends or coworkers that I need to reply to, but am a little too lazy to type out, I can just talk the email to MyCaption and it translates it surprisingly well.

If you’re an enterprise user, MyCaption will accurately voice-write your email, memos, tasks, contact notes and calendar entries on a BlackBerry. Other features include support for multiple email accounts, ample dictation time, text review and customizable dictionary.

The last time we posted about this company, many commented on the fact that Vlingo provides the same service. Apparently, MyCaption uses a mix of speech recognition technology and human editors, to improve accuracy levels. This mixed technology could be a blessing for business-length messages.

Purchase MyCaption for you BlackBerry for $10.

Voice to text emails made simple with MyCaption for BlackBerry

Mycaption is a wonderful app for those on the go or who don’t care to type. I love the voice to text features of this app, and it works remarkably well. Salespeople, Doctors, Lawyers, anyone who would rather speak than type, slow typists, or those who don’t have the time to type will find this a great product to use. Make sure to enunciate very clearly. I found my first few messages to contain some errors, but after a few uses the errors on subsequent messages were either one or none.
