Back in January, I visited the Quirky offices to check out what it’s like to work there and how products get pushed through the company. For those who aren’t familiar with Quirky, it’s a company focused on making the invention process easier. Users submit ideas, those ideas get voted on, and the community comes together to try and get the product to market. It’s a really cool process.
I recently attended the recruiting tour for the Nike+ Accelerator powered by TechStars NYC and I thought it might be beneficial to write up some info and thoughts for those interested in the program. For those who don’t know, Nike has launched a startup accelerator in partnership with TechStars NYC to find startups that can leverage access to the Nike+ Fuel data to build a startup or complement a startups data. The goal is to get some initial seed money, go through the TechStars program and build a business that may be acquired by Nike or simply exist as its own business. Read on for more details.

We’re going to have people on the ground at both the New York and Toronto BlackBerry 10 launch events so stay tuned for some great coverage. We’re not exactly sure if the two events will be the same or have different content, but we’ll have both covered regardless. If we had to guess, the Toronto event might be a little more “corporate” with RIM executives on hand, and the New York event would probably be more carrier and partner centric, with execs from AT&T being present. We’ll find out in 12 days.

Not too long ago we covered the BBM Hackathon in NYC and it was a great start to what would become a global series of events. The hackathon brings together developers who have an idea for an app, or would like to build an app, and can collaborate with other developers to get their app completed. It’s also a great motivator, as you can leave the event with an app that could begin to generate you some dollars. More details after the jump.
