This is pretty awesome right here. Take a picture of any text (document, business card, whiteboard, etc.) and so long as it’s in focus, ScanR will convert the image into a PDF, DOC, or vCard, depending on what you’re sending. All you have to do is send the image to one of three e-mail addresses, and you’ll get an automated reply with the processed file. You can always access the original pictures and their results from their website, too. Be warned, only the newer camera-toting BlackBerrys with a 2.0 megapixel camera will do the trick for this service. Definitely didn’t work on my old 8100. Keep an eye out for a launch this week. Thanks Ronen!

The document viewer BeamBerry got updated to version 2.0 over the weekend. BeamBerry is a cool little app that lets you view, print and store PDF, Word, PPT, XLS, RTF and ZIP files on your BlackBerry. Pretty handy stuff, there. The big changes in the new version?
“The key new feature introduced in this release is the ability for users to attach documents that they have stored on BeamDisk to new e-mails. The release also includes numerous improvements in the areas of performance, reliability and security, and contains fixes for several bugs discovered in previous versions (e.g. various problems with BeamPrint).”
It’s still in beta, but I reckon these guys will be going commercial pretty soon. Better get in on the free software while you can.
Josep at Miblackberry just let us in on some price drops and changes that will be coming to Dynoplex soon. These guys do office applications for your BlackBerry, but they’re looking to appeal to individual BIS customers a little more. Their eOffice suite, which lets you view and edit a bunch of document types, is getting its three packages folded into one nice and tidy $100 package. MasterDoc, which is sitting at $79.95 is getting cut to $49.95. That app reads various file formats and lets you fax from your BlackBerry. Finally, their spell checker, eSpell, will be available for a cool $19.95, and offers SMS, IM, Calendar spell checking, in addition to the standard e-mail.
