When I last posted about Evernote, the comments were pretty upset about availability. First, the download is only available for the BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Curve 8900 and the BlackBerry Storm. Also, Evernote for BlackBerry is only available for OS 4.6+ only.
In response to this, Evernote has offered the download as an OTA link so if you don’t have App World, you can grab it here.
* BlackBerry OS 4.6 and later OTA: http://s.evernote.com/bbota
* BlackBerry Storm OTA: http://s.evernote.com/stormota
Please note that you can choose whether to download the app to your computer (ZIP) or to perform OTA (over-the-air) installation which requires that you visit the page specified from your BlackBerry’s web browser.

Great news for recent BlackBerry Curve 8350i users having problems enjoying some iDEN PTT goodness. Sprint has officially released OS 4.6.1.128 for the Curve 8350i, which should fix many known issues (minus the ‘echo effect’ issue, which I’m told will be taken care of in a future release). To download the OS update, hit the either the Sprint or direct BlackBerry link below. To figure out what to do after that, read our OS upgrade how-to (Telus 8350i users may find this particularly interesting, as it contains instructions on how to use an OS build other than your carriers for upgrade goodness).

BGR has grabbed some screenshots of BlackBerry Visual Voicemail running on an AT&T BlackBerry Bold. Apparently, this feature will make its way to AT&T via OS 4.6.0.219. No word yet on when AT&T will roll out the OS update or if they’ll charge for it (it’s AT&T, what do you think?), but we’ll keep you in the know once we hear something. For now, you can see more of what BlackBerry Visual Voicemail will look like after the jump.

It looks like the RIM developer support team is on the ball again, this time releasing the BlackBerry Device Simulator v. 4.6.1 the day after the BlackBerry Curve 8900 passed the FCC. This new toy for developers will allow them to quickly test their software for the nascent Curve 8900. Get it now!

Good news for Rogers BlackBerry Bold users who have had a myriad of issues with RIM’s new flagship device (I’m looking in your direction, Kevin). Rogers has officially released an OS update for the BlackBerry Bold which reportedly improves device stability, battery life, web browsing,dropped calls, and memory management. You can find the download link to OS 4.6.0.162 below, and make sure to check out our OS upgrade how to as well.

For all members of the BlackBerry Nation holding out for the BlackBerry Curve 8900 instead of buying the BlackBerry Bold because it has a ‘Safe Mode’ feature (there were at least one or two of you, right?), worry not. Troy over at BlackBerryNews.com has uncovered the feature, which allows you to prevent third-party applications from running automatically, in a version of the BlackBerry Bold OS.
To get ‘Safe Mode’ on your Bold right now, you’ll have to find OS 4.6.0.162 floating somewhere on the Interwebs. Or you can look at some more photos after the jump while continuously selecting ‘Wirless Upgrade’ from your Bold options menu.

Earlier this week SanDisk announced the introduction of 16GB microSDHC (high capacity) cards, which makes me stare at the media-enabled BlackBerry Bold sitting beside me with both wonder and greed. However, those of you not fortunate enough to have an OS 4.6 BlackBerry may be wondering if your BlackBerry can support the new SDHC cards. Thankfully, our good friend Al Sacco over at CIO has already composed a useful chart depicting which BlackBerrys make the cut. We’ll spoil the ending for you, though: all BlackBerrys OS 4.5.0.81 and higher should be fine.

Here’s an interesting piece of news sent to us by our friends over at IntoMobile. It seems as though the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 will debut a new Folder on the Home Screen: Instant Messaging. It’s a move that makes sense considering the Pearl Flip target demographic and their love of IM. However, don’t despair non-FlipBerry using but IM-loving members of the BlackBerry Nation: the IM folder will be available to all via OS 4.6.1 (now if only I could get my Bold’s “Wireless Upgrade” option to work).

Yeah, that new bottom-bar Precision Zen theme is pretty slick, but some of us are still plenty happy with the oldies, like Today and the slightly-newer L theme. Well, it looks like someone over at Howard Forums has managed to hack in the old styles onto the Bold, and they look alright! Of course we’ll have to wait until the official Theme Developer Kit for OS 4.6 comes out before we can see some stuff that really takes advantage of the Bold’s screen and processor. The Plazmic CDK for 4.5 was just released late last month, so it might take awhile before we start seeing some proper shiny new themes, but this does get us day-dreaming about what’s next.
Thanks Nu!

Curious to know what exactly you’re missing with the BlackBerry Bold? RIM’s Knowledge Base is now listing the official new features in device software 4.6. Nothing hugely new (that Q hotkey for the vibrate profile is nice to know, and switching to Bluetooth headset mid-call is nifty), but now we’ve got all the updates in one spot.
