The new BlackBerry Storm OS 4.7.0.148 has made some long awaited improvements. RIM and Verizon Wireless have done a good job of meeting many consumer demands. Although the update has been leaked for some time, it is now official and fully tested. You will now find your BlackBerry to be faster, more responsive and the camera has a neat update.
The new selection tool that we found in OS 4.7.0.132 is still around and makes the copy and paste system much easier. When selecting text, you get a little box that can be slid either way to adjust your selection. Before this update, it was very difficult to select text because it was hidden beneath your fingers. Now you can select text accurately.

There are several ways for the average BlackBerry user to experience an application. They can either download the app from a store or App World, get the application through their carrier, use the application if it comes preloaded or experience it as part of the BlackBerry OS.
It is rare that RIM will purchase a company to include it on the OS, but it’s a great way for everyone to enjoy an improved BlackBerry experience. Some technologies acquired by RIM include: the browser is purchased IP from various companies, BlackBerry maps is from Tele Atlas and the media player uses technology licensed from Roxio.
I have compiled a list of 10 apps that provide additional functionality to the BlackBerry and that I think all BlackBerry devices should come with.

I feel awkward writing about unofficial BlackBerry OS releases because the thought of someone’s BlackBerry exploding and them losing all their data is unnerving. If you’re going to try this OS update, remember to take all the necessary precautions and back that BlackBerry up.

I haven’t seen an official update to the 8830 in a while but it seems Verizon has put out an official update for the BlackBerry 8830 OS. The new OS, 4.5.0.138, can be downloaded through Verizon’s BlackBerry page. I apologize to all the BlackBerry Storm owners who are still waiting to get theirs.
