H&R Block and Pageonce have announced that you can track the status of your tax refund from your BlackBerry. To facilitate this, H&R Block’s Tax Center is integrated into the Pageonce mobile app and provides DIY filers with timely updates of the status of their tax return, and more importantly, their federal and state tax refunds. Users simply enter their H&R Block At Home username and password in the Pageonce mobile app, and their information is automatically populated into the Tax Center. Taxpayers can instantly see when their refund will arrive.
It’s sort of strange how long it has taken for RIM to finally begin advertising the fact that their is such a thing as BlackBerry apps and users can download them on their device. In their latest TV spot, RIM is advertising the Super Apps concept which is cool but it would have been nice to see more than one app in the ad. At the very end of the ad, they show you a series of icons representing Super Apps (is Urban Spoon really a super app?), and there are a lot of cool apps they could have showcased. Why didn’t RIM showcase themes? The ability to customize your device in any way you’d like is a great advantage for BlackBerry and they should be advertising this on TV. Pageonce Personal Finance is definitely an awesome app but hopefully RIM will show off a little more in the coming ads.
Pageonce Personal Assistant is an app that lets you aggregate personal account data from multiple financial institutions, utilities and more, and presents you with alerts so you can better manage your finances and avoid fees. The app has recently gone version 3.0 with calendar integration, performance improvements and a new user interface.
Here is a quick breakdown of the 3.0 update:
Calendar Integration – Integration with your calendar, all upcoming events, including bill due dates and upcoming itineraries will automatically be added to the calendar.
Super Fast – The application is running in the background and as a result is now super fast, over 1000% performance improvement from previous versions.
Enhanced Notification system – This feature was already introduced in version 2.5 and now has enhanced capabilities with more alerts, such as APR change to your credit card and more. Also, all alerts are shown aggregated in a new alert tab.
Improved user interface – More readable account information screens and ability to refresh all accounts at once (refresh all available only for the premium version).
Pageonce have just released version 2.5 of Personal Assistant for BlackBerry. The app now uses push notifications so users can receive alerts about their accounts without having to have it run in the background. This is particularly important for alerts such as low credit limit, suspicious credit card transactions and upcoming bills.
Pageonce is predominantly a personal finance and account management company. The company has a couple apps, but their most popular is probably their Productivity Assistant. The app helps users to access their personal online accounts and helps them manage passwords and monitor accounts for fraudulent activity.
In recent news, Pageonce have received series A funding from venture capital firm Pitango. With 1 million users, the company is going to expand with this funding and we’ll probably be seeing much more from them soon.
